On Saturday, January 27, 2024, the Excellent Community of Management (XCM), as the Student Association of the Management Study Program at Universitas Bunda Mulia, organized a soft skills training event entitled “How Emotional Intelligence Plays an Important Role in The Organization” alongside the celebration of XCM’s 16th Anniversary with the theme “The New Era and The Better Version of Us.” The soft skills training was exclusively designed for all XCM members in order to provide students with a deeper understanding of the importance of Emotional Intelligence (EQ). This training was intended to equip participants with the skills to enhance awareness and understanding of the critical role of EQ within organizational and business contexts. Unlike other soft skills trainings, which was exclusive to XCM members, the 16th Anniversary Celebration also welcomed XCM alumni to commemorate this milestone and foster strong bonds between current members and alumni. This gathering was aimed for motivating the continuous growth and development of XCM.
The event was divided into two sessions: the first session focused on Soft Skills Training, while the second session was dedicated to the 16th Anniversary Celebration of XCM. The first session began at 1:37 PM WIB and was opened by hosts Rickel Arial Kaisar Elim (12210158) and Caliska Aldira Kusbiantor (12230326). Before proceeding with the event, participants were asked to fill out the attendance form as an initial confirmation of their presence. The program continued with opening remarks delivered by Mr. Elkunny Dovir Siratan, S.Par., MM, as the XCM advisor, and Tania Athaliav, the chairperson of XCM.
After the opening remarks, the event continued with the main session, featuring a presentation delivered by Mrs. Sophia Reni Susilo, SE., MM, the speaker for this training. Mrs. Sophia began her session by explaining what EQ (Emotional Quotient/Intelligence) is and emphasizing its importance, particularly in organizational and business contexts. She also elaborated on the key components of EQ that everyone should possess. To enhance participants’ understanding, Mrs. Sophia invited several attendees to come forward in pairs and explain their observations of their partner’s EQ. Following this interactive activity, she discussed the role of EQ in conflict management and strategies to enhance EQ within an organization.
After the presentation session, the event continued with a Q&A session between the speaker and the training participants, moderated by the MC. Following this, a certificate was presented to the speaker by Mr. Elkunny, the advisor of XCM. The first session was then concluded with a group photo session.
After the first session was completed, the event continued with the second session, which was the 16th Anniversary Celebration of XCM. This session began with the introduction of alumni and members from each XCM division. The event proceeded with the screening of a throwback video and a video wish. The main event followed, with the symbolic cutting of the cake and blowing out of the candles by Mr. Elkunny Dovir Siratan, S.Par., MM, the XCM advisor, Tania Athaliav, the chairperson of XCM, and Wily Dozen, the vice chairperson of XCM.
Entering the games session, participants were divided into several groups and directed to the badminton court on the 8th floor of UBM by the event team. This games session was divided into three (3) parts: the first game involved moving a glass using a rubber band and string, the second game was a word-charades activity (telepathy game), and the final game was a word-guessing game.
After the games session ended, the event continued with the announcement of the game winners and the gift exchange. The second session of today’s event was then concluded with a group photo and the final attendance check along with the completion of the feedback form. It is hoped that the Soft Skills Training and the XCM Anniversary Celebration will provide benefits to the members and alumni of XCM who participated.
